![]() It is a minor administrative change that would make a huge difference to a returning guest. It would have been so gratifying to arrive at Reception, and be greeted with a “Welcome back”.But we always think that with just a little managerial effort, it could be raised from ‘nice’ to ‘brilliant’. We often had to go in search of a member of staff in the bar, for example. We have nothing but praise for them, especially since it appears to us that they are overworked. The waiters and bar staff are charming and attentive. The hotel has a relaxed ambiance and guests seem to enjoy strolling in the grounds and lounging on the terrace, or playing chess or table tennis or boules There is a tennis court that is often in use. Over many years, we have stayed at this elegant chateau hotel with family and friends. Would really recommend you look elsewhere and if you get room 50, be prepared for banging pipes and blocked up toilets with no apology!… Some going that! All in all the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. Turned out to be the most expensive and worst meal of our 2 week stay in France. Cheese was okay but I had to repeatedly ask (stand up and walk to find the servers) for each of bread, a spoon and our drinks orders (x2). A velouté was chunky and curdled/white, tart overcooked, pasta overdone. Insipid, lacking in heat, seasoning and finesse. Ordered reluctantly but soon saw some groups come in and order from an a la carte menu! My 13 year old had to choose from 3 rather terrible offerings. Asked after an a la carte menu that I was told didn’t exist other than at lunch time. Booked for the hotel restaurant and we were given a set / half board menu despite not being on half board. First impressions and all - I complained to reception who cleared it but no apology or mention of it…unbelievable. The toilet was backed up with paper and ****. This looked better…how wrong can one be? Lovely grounds and first impressions were good but after going to room 50 post check, in my wife went to go to the loo. On the way down we stayed in a great Hotel Mercure in Rambouillet. Avoid.…īooked en route back to England after 2 weeks in France. The hotel is woefully understaffed, and those staff that there are lack training, experience and have no notion of customer service. Again I left after 25 minutes without having been served. On the last evening I went to the bar again after dinner. Having waited for over 20 minutes I gave up and left. ![]() When, the receptionist eventually came to the bar to take an order, there was no beer … the barrel hadn’t been changed. On the first evening, I waited 25 minutes to be served. The hotel has a small bar, however, no Barman. There is a half decent restaurant, hopelessly understaffed, and I was twice refused a table, despite the place being less than half full. The rooms are large and spacious and brightly lit, but the small electric radiators on the walls don’t work and for a week, the temperature in my room never went above 14° C. The staff on the front desk are sullen and unhelpful at best. ![]() The notion of customer service is non-existent. It is hard to find much to like about this hotel other than the outward appearance.
